Aparrently there is also a software utility from them that could perform the same function but that means seeing it in the bios I suspect. What is making the bios do this???

The only one that was still ok was my drive C which is fine but the other two seemed to have dropped off cpmpletely. If it fails try the promise controller.
Reading Further the Promise Raid Controller Configuration can be changed from Raid to i believe non raid, just read the motherboard manual. Tried booting in safe mode and received the BSOD. I have purchased a brand new disk and using the power and dat cables removed from the original disk, connected it. Your drive does not appear to have that option.

Set it up that way and it should work fine. Channel 1 says asta drive, which is correct, so the VIA is recognizing that a drive is there.
